McDonald's Sign Pan-Scandinavian Agreement with free-hotspot.com to Provide Free Wi-Fi

Restaurants in the Nordic Region to offer customers free, fast and easy wireless Internet access

Dublin, Ireland and Stockholm, Sweden – 01 March 2010 – free-hotspot.com announced today that it has signed a master agreement with McDonald's Corporation, under which the company will install its free HotSpot solution in McDonald's locations in Scandinavia.

Alf Ryblad, Nordics IT Director for McDonald's, explained the reasons behind their choice of free-hotspot.com: “McDonald's philosophy is to deliver quality quickly, and the free-hotspot.com solution does exactly that. Now our customers can access the Internet safely and securely, with just one click. The service is also optimised for access using handheld devices such as iPhones and SmartPhones, which are used by over half of our customers that use the Wi-Fi in our restaurants.”

Joe Brunoli. Managing Director of free-hotspot.com, explained the unique aspects of the Wi-Fi system that McDonald's has adopted. “Our service not only provides free Internet access for customers,” he said, “it also offers McDonald's a way to market to their customers using the Wi-Fi system. We feel that this ability to communicate digitally also fits the McDonald's new ‘green’ policies, as the company can save both trees and money by reducing its consumption of paper-based promotional material.”

The free-hotspot.com Wi-Fi service is already operating in over 230 McDonald's restaurants in Sweden, and deployment in Denmark and Norway is currently underway and will be completed by 01 March 2010. An agreement to deploy in Finland is expected at a later date to be named.
