free-hotspot.com and Truphone partner to make low cost calling available across Europe

Truphone users are able to make calls from free-hotspot.com’s 700 locations in 14 countries throughout Europe without roaming fees or additional charges until May 15th 2007

Dublin, Ireland – 12th February, 2007: free-hotspot.com, the world’s largest network of free Internet HotSpots, announces today that it has partnered with Truphone, a mobile VoIP solution provider. The partnership will enable owners of the latest generation of Wi-Fi-equipped mobile phones to make Mobile VoIP calls at no additional cost, from any of free-hotspot.com’s growing network of 700 Wi-Fi HotSpots in 14 countries across Europe until May 15th 2007.

“This offer coupled with Truphone’s low Internet calling rates will provide some really exciting savings for our users,” commented Brandon Meyers, free-hotspot.com’s Vice President of Marketing. He continued, “In the UK, for instance, users can call 1.6 billion landlines (and some mobiles) in 40 countries around the world for FREE until March 31st 2007.”

Truphone’s free software enables Wi-Fi mobile phones such as Nokia’s E60, E61, E70 and N-80ie to make free or internet-rate phone calls (VoIP calls) over Wi-Fi connections. When the mobile device is not in Wi-Fi range it reverts to being a normal mobile phone, so people need only one device. Through this partnership Truphone users will be able to seamlessly connect to the Internet and make either free or internet-rate calls when they are in range of one of free-hotspot.com’s certified Wi-Fi HotSpots, allowing owners to make calls at the lowest rate available.

Chris Isaacs, Business Development Director at Truphone, said, "Using free-hotspot.com is an extremely simple, no-hassle experience for Truphone users. free-hotspot.com’s reach into 14 different countries across Europe gives our users new connection options for making calls while they are travelling."

After May 15th, 2007, Truphone users will still be able to make calls from free-hotspot.com locations under a roaming agreement and will be charged just 3p/minute more than Truphone’s low standard published rates. The viewing of advertisements, entering of passwords or inputting of credit card details will not be required.

About Truphone:
In mid-2006, Truphone introduced internet telephony (‘VoIP’) for mass market mobile phones, enabling users to make free and low-cost calls from their handsets via Wi-Fi and the Internet. The company is closely involved with the open source community and is developing the Truphone service in accordance with internationally-recognised open standards. The company has development teams and partners in locations across Finland, Romania, USA and the UK. In December 2006 Truphone was selected as a ‘Technology Pioneer for 2007’ by the World Economic Forum. At the end of 2006 it received the biggest Series-A venture capital investment of the year for a European technology company. Truphone is the trading name of Software Cellular Network Limited (SCN), a privately-owned UK technology company founded in 2000.

Important information about emergency calls: Truphone is not a replacement for an ordinary telephone service and emergency calls cannot be made using Truphone. However Truphone does not prevent emergency calls being made via a handset’s normal cellular service provider.
