Dublin, Ireland, 13 November 2007 - free-hotspot.com, the world’s largest provider of free Wi-Fi HotSpots, announces today the launch of its first "FREE HotSpot Zone" in Germany, located in the city of Empelde near Hanover. The new Wi-Fi service, operating under the name "Empelde-Online", will offer free wireless Internet access through a network of HotSpots located throughout the city. Installed in a group of participating businesses, these HotSpots will cater for customers, visitors and citizens alike.
The FREE HotSpot Zone was built with the help of PC-Klinik, a local IT service provider serving both businesses and residential clients. Under the direction of PC Klinik, forty five local cafes, hotels, restaurants and other enterprises have banded together to form the "Empelde-Online" project to promote themselves and their community.
Edward Röhrig, co-owner of PC Klinik, said: "We are always striving to make Empelde a more attractive place to live and work. The solution from free-hotspot.com helped us in that effort, and has now provided us with a way to cost-effectively deliver FREE Wi-Fi access to almost every house in Empelde. In addition, users now has easy access to local and regional information through our city portal, www.empelde-online.de as well as www.empelde-inside.de."
Joe Brunoli, Vice President of free-hotspot.com, saluted Empelde’s achievement. "Free public Wi-Fi is something many cities and towns are trying to implement," he said. "We are pleased to be able to help communities like Empelde to realize that vision in a way that makes economic sense. Our FREE HotSpot Zone concept has shown that there is indeed a way to provide free Wi-Fi access to the people while subsidizing the service through advertising revenue. Empelde-Online has further demonstrated that this goal can be achieved not just through public entities but also through private enterprises."
